National monument at Vítkov is functionalist monument built 1929-1923 as a project of Jan Zázvorka. The main reason was to pay tribute to Czechoslovakian legionary and Czechoslovakian resistance movement during the WWI. During 1954-1962 there was a mausoleum of Klement Gottwald, the former communist president. Nowadays theere are remains of an unknown soldier from the battle at Zborov. Also there was an exhibition of Crossroads of Czech a Czechoslovakian statehood. The hill offers an astonishing view of Prague.
